Clueboard Privacy Policy

Clueboard is a local-first Chrome extension for saving a browsing research session as a visual folder and investigation board.

What Clueboard Accesses

When the user clicks save, Clueboard may access:

• the URLs of normal web pages in the current browser window
• page titles
• site names
• favicons
• page descriptions from metadata
• a short visible text summary when metadata is unavailable
• tab opener relationships used to reconstruct real click paths
• page screenshots when the user explicitly chooses to save a snapshot for a saved page

Clueboard does not continuously monitor browsing activity in the background. It reads page information only when the user explicitly uses the save flow, and it saves page screenshots only when the user explicitly chooses the snapshot action.

How Data Is Used

• to create a saved research folder
• to display visual cards for saved pages
• to help the user search saved folders and pages
• to rebuild a visual board of saved pages and click relationships
• to show locally saved page snapshots in the investigation board

Where Data Is Stored

In the current version, Clueboard stores saved research folders, page titles, URLs, summaries, and click-path metadata locally in the user's browser using chrome.storage.local. Page snapshots saved by the user are stored locally in the browser's IndexedDB.

Clueboard does not require an account and does not sync data to a developer-hosted server.

Data Sharing

Clueboard does not sell personal data and does not transfer saved browsing data to third parties for advertising, analytics, or profiling.

User Control

Users can remove saved folders from inside the extension. Users can also remove all saved extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage in the browser.

Permissions Used

• storage saves research folders locally
• tabs reads the current window's pages when the user clicks save, reopens saved sessions, and captures page snapshots only when the user explicitly chooses that action
• scripting extracts page metadata for pages the user explicitly saves
• <all_urls> supports saved research sessions across arbitrary websites
